The river musi  originates in Anantagiri Hills near Vikarabad, Ranga Reddy district, 90 kilometers to the west of Hyderabad and flows due east for almost all of its course. It joins theKrishna River at Vadapally in Nalgonda district after covering a total distance of about 240 km.

By Road:  From Hyderabad, there are two ways for reaching ananthagiri hills through vikarabad. One route is Hyderabad – APPA Junction (outer ring road) – Moinabad -Chevella – Manneguda – Vikarabad (approx 60km from APPA junction).
